Love for family and art is an important pillar of the De Leite brewery. Brewer's father Luc was the 7th child in a family of 9. The friendship between Uncle Pol (the 8th child) and his nephew Luc is great. The Cuvée Oncle Pol is dedicated to him. The brewer had planned a surprise with his uncle's children for the launch. They came to the brewery with their father to "taste a beer". The brewer proudly and joyfully surprised his beloved uncle with the first bottle of this new beer. The wishlist is not yet saved permanently. Please log in to save it.

Add to my WishlistOur Bruin beer
Oud Bruin beers (meaning old brown in Dutch) is a brown beer with an amber color, which is generally tart.
Acidity is achieved by adding lactic acid bacteria and letting the fermenting beer sit for several months.
The yeast will eat all the residual sugars and the acidity produced by the bacteria will be more and more noticeable.
The style of Oud Bruin beers is very close to the red beers of Flanders, but the two styles still have differences.
Oud Bruin beers are characteristic to certain regions in Flanders where they were the local beer drunk daily by the inhabitants before becoming a regional specialty. A bit like the people of Brussels drank gueuze daily at the same time.
Oud Bruin style beers are both produced by historic breweries such as Vander Ghinste and Vestraeten and its Duchess of Burgundy but also by young micro-breweries such as Verzet which has made it its specialty.
