Brewery Silly

The Brasserie de Silly was born in the second half of the 19th century when the brewery-farm of Silly begins its activity.

Dependent on its raw materials, this type of brewery was common at the time in the region. The farm produces the raw materials which are transformed by the brewery. This was also the case for many other breweries that started at the time (Cazeau, Caulier, Dupont, etc.).

In 1900, the son of the founder won a medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, and made the brewery shine in Europe. The brewery will also manage to get through the two wars without too much difficulty, stopping production for two years during the second war.

In 1950, even though the Silly brewery was doing well with 'Saison', 'Grisette' and 'Scotch', they decided to brew their pilsner as all Belgian breweries did at that time. It was an immediate hit within their network of cafes.

The Silly brewery bought the Tennstedt brewery, which allowed it to add the 'double Enghien' to its catalog. Today beers are sold in many bars and cafes in the country, the brasserie de Silly has become essential.
