Belgique Blonde Bouteille Flandre Occidentale

The Gruut Blonde is a rather cloudy and quite sweet gruut (spiced beer).

It is the result of a mixture of specific spices. This style comes to us from Germany and was very popular with us before the war.

Gruit beer

Gruit-style beers are fermented drinks made from malt and a blend of herbs and spices.

They appeared in hospices to relieve patients.

The particularity of gruits is that there are no hops.

Originally from Flanders (French Flanders, West Flanders, East Flanders), it was quickly exported to Germany where it is still brewed consistently.

A brewery in Germany has even specialized in this style, since its range only consists of gruits. This is also the case of the Ghent brewery Gruut.

There is also the Brussels brewery La Source, which is experimenting with several ephemeral gruits, each time with a unique composition of herbs and spices.
