Brewery Hanssens

Hanssens was founded in Dworp, a small village in the entity of Beersel.

The Hanssens gueuze blenderie is a small family business renowned for its Oude Geuze and its Oude Kriek.

Hanssens is therefore not a brewery, since it does not brew lambic. However, the family's know-how in barreling is enormous and Hanssens has brewed its own lambic in the past.

You should know that in 1945, many buildings from the industrial era had been destroyed and that many breweries had to source lambic elsewhere to be able to continue making gueuze.

The production being limited, the products are difficult to obtain even in Belgium. Today the majority of production goes abroad. Indeed, gueuze lovers being mainly outside Belgium, many gueuziers export the majority of productions. Well beyond the Belgian borders, amateurs know how to appreciate Hanssens gueuzes.

The history of Hanssens Artisanaal gueuzes spans four generations. During the last generational renewal, which occurred in the 1990s, Sidy Hanssens, daughter of the brewer, took over the supervision of the production of the brewery.

She now works together with her husband. She was also one of the first women in the country to head a brewery and production.

It is possible to visit the brewery and have a drink on site, unfortunately it is not possible for individuals to buy beer on site. They decided to have all their production distributed by professionals, such as us.
